This book is carefully crafted, there isn’t a moment where I lost the spell McInerney puts on you!
It was so interesting to read a close story about the strangest family in town, the Templetons, as the mystery unravels about who they really are. As well as their troubled neighbour, Nina, and her son Tom.
The prologue of the novel is a very delicate insight into what later unravels. It gives nothing away, but ties everything together perfectly when you reach the end of the novel.
It’s quite obvious when someone loves the story they’re writing, because they tend to tell it with more grace and care as they want you to grasp these characters just as they intend to. There are many instances I find incredibly well written, where each character seems to lie – or perhaps tell the truth! – and you don’t really know what happened where or with whom.
I will recommend this novel to everyone and anyone, and will definitely look more into her other novels and give them more love!
