Makeup is always something I’ve played with for fun, and skincare just as much. Growing up a girl it’s something I did to fit in, and it took me a long time to realise what I wanted instead of what’s expected of me.

I will not sit here and advocate for this or that product, my routine is imperfect and mostly filled with Superdrug’s own brand – which I will say is better than you think! I will happily spend more money on a single product then a lot on many: quality over quantity, but if I catch a good product for cheap I won’t stray from it. I wonder why at fifteen compared to twenty I went from having drawers upon drawers of products to one simple box.

I guess this links into those Sephora and Ulta kids nowadays – they call themselves Gen Alpha influences. It’s more fun to play grown up then it is to actually be one, what is projected as a little girl over a grown woman.

But now, the routine is set in stone and overcomplicating it seems like a waste of time. I used to sit and create a full face of makeup late at night as a deterrent for my homework, a way to avoid the inevitable. I guess now I have no time to play distractions.
