I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS!!! One of the best episodes I have ever watched. The mixture of the ‘Midnight’ creature coming back, with the drilling into the land story we’ve seen so much: ‘The Hungry Earth’ paired with ‘Cold Blood’, as well as ‘The Waters of Mars’.

Whilst some like to avoid the commentaries, maybe we should stop drilling into planets and our Earth… But past that, the midnight creature is one of my favourite monsters. The best monsters are made when we don’t understand, not even the Doctor does. To reference again to ‘The Waters of Mars’, when sacrifices have to be made and people left behind that the Doctor can’t save, they are the most incredible.

This was one of those episodes where I literally have to sit in silence afterwards and absorb what I have just watched.

SPOILERS!!!

I cried buckets, knowing that Shaya would sacrifice herself as the strong and brave character which Davies likes to kill ALL THE TIME. But the monster gets even scarier… Whilst the entity supposedly dies on Shaya, we see four in the pod, and further the creature leaving with Mo, so I’m assuming we will see it again.

If I could give it awards and force every person to watch this episode, I would. Completely perfect classic Who – bare in mind, classic to me is ninth onwards… I absolutely cannot wait to see what the entity does next.
