Watching what formed a writer is always so intriguing, especially watching stories unfold before you. My new favourite fact is that Carrie was actually thrown away, before it produced the myriad forms of literature we see now. Steven King is a beautiful writer, both humorous and vulnerable.
For any writer, I find this book is so important and informative. Not only does it give the best advice on honing your craft, but it teaches you so much about everybody else. Even King had doubts, obstacles and struggles. Sometimes the writing process is one of the lonely journeys to begin – but this book creates a community without conversation.
Some writing advice books can sound pretentious, or have no original voice and sound more like a drilling manual. But this book is the perfect mix of narrative and advice.
I literally could talk about this book forever (and to people in my life, I have been doing). I finished it less than a month ago and I’m already itching for a re-read.
