Oh John Smith, how we’ve missed you.
I’ve officially seen my favourite Whoniverse theory, that John Smith is in fact the Doctor’s name all long. But, past all of that…
We all live in a happy, happy world, don’t we? Nobody rules us with no authority, with ulterior motives, with fascism, racism and homophobia at our core, right? What a beautifully crafted episode completely reflecting our world today. Something Davies never does subtly, and I didn’t expect anything else from him. Don’t think outside the box, because then you might break the broken system.
The baby was an excellent idea, but there could’ve been more I think. I’m assuming it ties together the Gods storyline, but honestly I’m not too sure. I would’ve liked to see a little bit more from it all, especially the giggle. Hearing that the baby had the giggle I was so excited – and a little bit terrified for what was to come. But not a lot apparently… Maybe they’ll be more next week, in the anticipated finale.

It was a classic Who hero / villain story, wrapped up in ignorance. To quote the characters themselves:
“I’ve never seen this place before.”
“Yes you have, you walk past it every day.”
We’re so ignorant to the world around us, not just what is happening but the treatment of specifically the disabled. Maybe it’s how it’s always been, or maybe we’re looking at a disapproval of the Labour Government…
I look forward to next week – and especially what will happen to the cutest little toddler ever – Poppy!!
