And the ‘A Song of Fire and Ice’ series just gets better and better!!
I spent half this novel with my mouth gaping wide open, and the other one of the very edge of my seat. Martin did wonders on this novel, building tension upon tension upon tension as… SO much happened. I yearn to spend the next year of my life immersing myself into this world, and as I have somehow managed to avoid all spoilers, I do have no idea where this tension is building up to.
Something Martin does so well is effortlessly switching between these characters and their own unique voices and perspective on different matters, as well as even seamlessly showing you how the Stark children are growing and maturing. There was so much more land explored too, and the world building is just absolutely stunning. I’m trying to sum up my experiences without spoiling anything which is perhaps the trickiest thing ever, but there are elements being introduced that are leading this series in a way that really does excite me for the next few books!!
I do hope the next novel is a little… happier than this (famous last words) as I don’t know how much heartbreak I can take </3
