Okay, completely ignore everything I’ve said before. This is definitely my favourite book in the whole series for two reasons:

1) George R. R. Martin has a beautiful way of crafting characters and stories that immerse you. He isn’t kind to these characters for sake, he’s real and raw and it’s refreshing. The depth of the politics and the game of thrones are vastly fascinating and I have to constantly remind myself that this isn’t a real world, and somehow one man has managed to conjure this up.

2) George R. R. Martin is cruel beyond reason.

That’s all I can say.
